My name is Ethan Oleson. I’m a freelance cartographer currently working for the Vermessungsamt (surveyor’s office) Freiburg. I thought I’d start this blog as a way to just share some of my thoughts related to cartography. Some posts will be retrospectives about maps that I’ve made, others might be about some topic related to cartography in some way, but the most will probably be posts about maps I’ve collected over the years. Fair warning: I like history and like talking about old maps I have, but I’m no historian. I try to be as correct as possible, but who knows, I’ve probably make some mistakes, it’s very possible.
